Originally a Primary School Teacher (Diploma of Teaching achieved 1980) I started in the Financial Services industry in 1982 and have been continuously in it ever since. My specialist areas are Personal Risk Management, Retirement Planning and Investment Planning. I am a member of the "Institute of Financial Advisers (IFA)" and have been since its inception. A membership requirement is continuing education and I exceed these requirements on an annual basis. I achieved ALU (Associate Life Underwriter) status in December 2004, AFP (Associate Financial Planner) status in May 2009 and CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) status in December 2009.
I have passed Adviserlinkcourses on: Personal Risk Management, Disability Income Insurance (Merit), Financial Planning (Merit), Introduction to Financial Planning 5 Day Course (Honours), Practice Management (Honours), Business Financial Services (Merit). Since January 2005 I have been studying extra-murally through Massey University aiming towards attainment of a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Personal Risk Management and Personal Financial Planning) and to date have passed 9 papers. These Massey papers also contribute towards the attainment of CFP (Certified Financial Planner) which I expect to achieve by 2012.
I am also a member of "Professional Advisers Association (PAA)".
Lynne and I have been married since 1987 and have 2 children (Michaela and Elliott). Having been a keen sportsman all my life I still play cricket for Sumner. My Winter activities are pretty much restricted to spectator status these days plus some minor coaching involvement with our children's sport.
